What you'll do...

We’re looking for a technically adept and experienced Head of Process Engineering (Formation and Aging) to lead a significant part of our Global Manufacturing Engineering team. You will be responsible for the delivery of process development and manufacturing technology across of range of critical manufacturing processes, with a focus on Formation and Aging line. You will recruit, develop and lead a diverse team of talented engineers and managers to delivery of complex industrialisation programmes, requirements and capabilities.

Reporting to the VP Global Manufacturing Engineering, The Head of Process Engineering will be responsible for:

• The development of all elements of process design and implementation for battery manufacturing
• Being responsible for both the technical process development and the design management, validation and industrialisation of all required process equipment.
• Working closely with internal stakeholders, alongside external partners and vendors across the globe to meet SQCDEP objectives
• The recruitment, development, coaching and leadership of a world class team
• Representing the GPE function internally, working with a diverse, international team to deliver excellence across the business.
• Defining and owning the technology roadmap for your process areas; driving innovation and bringing next-gen manufacturing technology to the shop floor.

We are a scale-up business with a start-up mentality and the backing of a well-established parent company. The UK business headquarters is in the Midlands and we are currently building a battery manufacturing facility in Bridgwater, Somerset.

What you'll bring..

• Ability to lead engineering teams at a senior level (with managers as direct reports) through industrialisation and transformation programmes.
• Knowledge of Formation and Aging processes (e.g. Formation, End of Line, DCIR, OCV, Degassing, Final Sealing, Charging/Discharging, Filling, Baking, Electrolyte Filling, etc)
• Experience of having lead significant capex programmes from conception to delivery.
• Process Engineering leadership experience in a lithium-ion battery manufacturing environment (or complimentary industry) with a detailed understanding of all required manufacturing and engineering principles and practices (process design, equipment engineering, automation, process & quality standards, DFMEA to Control Plan, MRL/TRL maturation, etc)
• Excellent communication skills, the ability to engage and influence at all levels of the business and simplify complex problems for a wide business audience
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science, or equivalent Engineering disciplines.
